Xpad

Laptops today really are not meant to be set on your lap. They can give off a very uncomfortable amount of heat. The solution is; don’t use your laptop on your lap or try a product like the Xpad by Edova Innovations, LLC.

The Xpad is a very cool-looking pad. It is made from sturdy ABS plastic and is thin for easy transporting in your laptop bag. Your laptop will ride on 4 risers that leave an air-gap for airflow. On top of the risers are 4 non-slip rubber pads to prevent your laptop from slipping. Three layers of insulation keep your lap cool. On the bottom there is a big non-slip pad. It supports laptops up to 17” in size.

Using the Xpad, you barely notice the extra weight. After lengthy use of my Powerbook, it was still pretty hot, although not as hot as it usually gets. My lap was still cool though, as was the Xpad itself. The non-slip rubber pads on the top four risers worked well tilting the laptop it did not slide. It fared well on my lap as well not sliding much, using it on my laptop stand it did slide quite a bit. It was great to use it on the bed, otherwise my comforter would cover the laptop vents and would cause overheating. Not the case with the Xpad. I can put it on any surface without worry of the laptop vents being covered.

Other than tha,t the Xpad serves its purpose well and does it in style.

If your looking for a low cost and extremely portable solution to your laptop giving you that burning feeling give the Xpad a try. At 30$ for one you cant go wrong. As a side note, my wife just started playing World of Warcraft on her iBook and the laptop noticeably gets pretty hot. Concerned about the heat as she was, coincidently I was writing this review and told her about the Xpad. Well, needless to say it has not left the underside of her iBook since and I have not heard he complain about the heat since.
